Children’s Dentistry

At North End Dental Care, we welcome children of all ages. We typically recommend that you bring your child for their first dental visit at our Manchester, NH dental office around age one, or as soon as baby teeth start to appear.

You may be surprised that we like to see kids at such a young age, but there are a couple of reasons our children’s dentist recommends these early visits.

Baby teeth play an important role in holding a space for the permanent teeth that are getting ready to emerge. If your child loses a baby tooth due to decay, adjacent teeth can start to tilt into the open space. When the permanent tooth is ready to erupt, there’s not enough space, which can cause crowding or misalignment issues that may require orthodontics to fix.

Early dental visits for your child also help your little one slowly get used to the new experience of going to the dentist. Your son or daughter will gradually get to know our team, which allows them to feel safe and secure when the time comes for dental treatment.

We also encourage you to bring your child with you to your dental appointments. Letting them check out the surroundings without any pressure is an excellent way to help them develop positive feelings about visiting the dentist.

If you’re looking for children’s dentistry in Manchester, NH, please call us at (603) 668-6360, and we’ll be happy to help you schedule an appointment.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic system that straightens crooked, crowded, or overlapped teeth and dental bite issues. The introduction of Invisalign as an alternative to metal braces has completely changed the way dentists today approach orthodontic treatment.

The only commonality between Invisalign and traditional braces is that the correct tooth misalignment and bite issues. However, instead of brackets and wires to move teeth, Invisalign uses a series of comfortable plastic aligner trays that nudge teeth into the desired position.

Smooth plastic aligners fit snugly over your teeth and won’t irritate tender mouth tissue. Since the aligners are crystal-clear, they blend discreetly with your smile. Best of all, you can remove Invisalign clear aligners for meals and brush and floss.

The first step is an evaluation with Dr. Moriarty at our Manchester, NH dental office, so he can evaluate the extent of your misalignment and how Invisalign can help. We start by taking images and x-rays of your teeth and use them to develop your comprehensive treatment plan. We send this information to an Invisalign lab that customizes several sets of clear Invisalign aligners according to our specifications.

You will receive two sets of aligners, and we’ll instruct you to wear the first set for at least 22 hours a day for two to three weeks. Then you’ll switch to the second set and repeat the process. After you go through your first two sets of aligners, we’ll have you return to our office to check on your progress and give you your next sets of Invisalign. Treatment is finished when you have used the last set of aligners.

Invisalign is convenient and comfortable, so treatment fits your busy lifestyle. If you would like to learn more about the process, please call our Manchester, NH dental office to schedule a consultation.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

The answer depends on how healthy surrounding teeth are. At our Manchester, NH dental office, we anchor a dental bridge to adjacent teeth with dental crowns, so the anchor teeth need to be strong and healthy enough to support it. If they’re not, a single dental implant would be a better choice since it’s a standalone replacement that doesn’t involve other teeth.

Rooted securely in your jaw during implant surgery, a dental implant is a stronger, longer-term solution than a bridge. Once the implant heals in your jaw, Dr. Moriarty designs a custom-crafted porcelain crown that completes your smile and restores lost tooth function.

However, there are may also be a case where you have the option of choosing either an implant or a bridge to replace a missing tooth. Since we want you to feel informed and comfortable with any treatment decision you make, Dr. Moriarty will explain each option and the effect it will have on your smile and your oral health.

Whichever method you choose, remember that replacing a missing tooth or teeth is essential for protecting your overall oral health. If you are looking for a solution to replace missing teeth in Manchester, NH, please call us to schedule an appointment.

General Dentistry

When Dr. Moriarty recommends a particular dental procedure at our Manchester dental office, it’s because he has determined that it is going to benefit your long-term oral health in some way. He will always explain to you why he recommends treatment and will share your digital x-rays and intraoral images with you so you can see the problem for yourself.

Patients often ask us if they can delay their dental treatment, and it’s our job to help you understand the consequences of doing so.

For example, a cavity may not be painful at the moment, which may give you a false sense of security that everything’s okay. But the truth is that, without treatment, the decay continues to eat away at your tooth, and by the time you develop a toothache, it may be damaged beyond repair

A small spot of decay that we could have repaired with a dental filling can spread into the inner part of your tooth and become infected or abscessed and cause you considerable pain. Instead of a simple filling, now the tooth requires a root canal procedure to relieve your pain and save the tooth from extraction.

If anxiety prevents you from following through with treatment, please let us know. In many cases, Dr. Moriarty can prescribe a calming medication that you take before your appointment to help keep you calm and comfortable.

Please don’t put off needed dental treatment. Call our Manchester, NH dental office so we can help you.

We do our best to minimize the number of dental x-rays we take at our Manchester, NH dental office because your safety is of the utmost importance to us. However, most problems like cavities and gum disease often develop within your tooth or under your gums, neither of which Dr. Moriarty can see during a visual examination.

Since we can’t treat what we can’t see, we wouldn’t be doing our job as dentists if we didn’t recommend a diagnostic x-ray to give us a full picture of what’s happening inside your tooth.

However, Dr. Moriarty understands your concerns, so we use digital x-rays at our Manchester, NH dental office that exposes you to about 80 percent less radiation than older film x-rays. The state-of-the-art, high-resolution images produced with digital x-rays also allow us to identify cavities and gum disease in their earliest stages when they’re easier to treat.

If you’re uncertain about the need for a particular dental procedure, a digital x-ray that we share with you on your chairside monitor will make it clear to you why Dr. Moriarty recommends it and how it will benefit you.

Digital dental x-rays are an integral part of your oral health care, and at North End Dental Care, we assure you that we will only recommend them when necessary. Please call us our Manchester, NH dental office if you have any questions about the x-rays we take and how they’ll benefit you.
